Edit: Also, reading through an article about the wave of Jewish emigration from the Soviet Union to Israel from a 1992 issue of National Geographic made pretty clear how extremely recently attitudes in the media towards the Palestinian-Israeli conflict have shifted away from assuming a nearly exclusively pro-Israeli slant.
